An Armed Man Flees Toward His Humboldt Home and Two Buffalo Officers Are Hurt

A gun call on the city's East Side late last night ended with a named suspect fleeing on foot toward 674 Humboldt and dispatch rolling an ambulance for two injured officers.

Just after 11:00 PM last night, Buffalo police worked a gun call on the East Side, broadcasting a description of a fleeing suspect — a bald Black male in a blue Buffalo Bills hoodie and red-and-black sneakers, last seen heading eastbound.

Officers recovered a basket believed to belong to the suspect but found no weapon inside, telling dispatch that if he was armed, the gun was still on him. At 11:01 PM a unit identified the man as Tyrone Stanley and said he appeared to be headed toward his house at 674 Humboldt.

A few minutes later the tone changed. At 11:04 PM an officer keyed up: “Radio, can you roll AMR up here? I got two officers that are hurt” A later update described the suspect possibly fleeing in a blue Ford Escape with an out-of-state Ohio plate. The extent of the officers' injuries was not stated on the air.

A South Park Avenue Domestic Call Is Changed From a Rescue to a Death Investigation

When dispatch tried the callback a few minutes later there was no answer. Shortly after, a unit on scene asked, “Can you change this call from a rescue to a DOA? We're still on scene” — telling dispatch they were still on scene and would need more time. The traffic did not establish a cause.

Forget the fire ground — yesterday at 5:29 PM the Depew Fire chief had a far thornier logistics puzzle on his hands: where to park the food trucks for the high school football game. With security working the front on Transit Road and the parking lot filling, the trucks started rolling in. The answer came back crisp: “Food trucks are going to be just west of the field, so send them back along the access road by the bus garage and we'll get them in here” A final count settled the matter — five trucks total, four already there, one more inbound. Editor’s Note

A steady overnight churn of domestics, overdoses and welfare checks moved across all seven counties through the night, with Buffalo carrying the heaviest load. The window's hardest moment came just after 11:00 PM on the city's East Side, where an armed man fled toward a Humboldt address and two officers were hurt. Elsewhere the night ran to the unsettling and the odd — a Hickory Hill welfare check that turned into a woman trapped unresponsive behind the wheel, two people freed from a stadium elevator in Orchard Park, and a working structure fire in Ashford that drew mutual aid across the Cattaraugus line.
