BUFFALO FIRE BATTLES STUBBORN ATTIC BLAZE IN HOUR-LONG FIGHT

Crews open ceiling, ladder roof, chase extension through void spaces; "$60,000 to the building, zero to contents."

Buffalo Fire Department Channel 2 fireground traffic carried a sustained working structure fire across roughly an hour of dispatch between 8:09 a.m. and 9:08 a.m., with command repeatedly asking for additional lines, ceilings opened on the second floor, and a truck company assigned to chase extension into the attic.[1] Crews reported "fire on the first floor extended to the attic," using "three into three-quarter line, 50 feet of ground ladder," before clearing the call with a final accounting of "60,000 to the building, zero to the contents — cause under investigation."[2]

The radio traffic showed a textbook progression: initial knock, requests to "move it up" once the first floor was darkened, a second line called upstairs, ceiling opened to confirm no extension above, then a sweep of the rear and second chimney before declaring the building under control. No civilian or firefighter injuries surfaced on Ch. 2 traffic during the window.

Cardiac arrest call sends echo response to Elderwood on North Bailey

At 9:14 a.m., Amherst Fire dispatch routed an "echo response" — the highest EMS priority — to Elderwood at 4459 North Bailey Avenue for an 82-year-old female reported in cardiac arrest, with Twin City Ambulance taking the private call.[3] Multiple Eggertsville and North Bailey units were paged in tandem to room 219; dispatch tone was urgent and stacked through the next several minutes.

Bicycle vs. Auto · Clarence Center

Cyclist struck by car near Brookside, "awake and breathing"

Amherst Fire dispatch logged a motor-vehicle accident "involving a person on a bike" in the Clarence Center area at 12:34 p.m., with the call originally going out as "a bike struck by a car" just north of Brookside Drive.[4] The patient was reported "awake and breathing" — the welcome two-word phrase scanner listeners look for after a cyclist call.

Fire Alarm · East Amherst

M&T Data Center hits Zone 43 — heat & pull-station activation

A multi-zone fire alarm rolled in at 1:16 p.m. from 191 Park Club Lane — the M&T Data Center off Main Street near Scam Ridge Curve — with "a lot of companies reporting a Zone 43 activation" and a smoke/heat/pull-station signal lighting up the panel.[5] A unit on scene later cleared the call with the note "they were firing up a drill," suggesting facility maintenance had triggered the alarm.

Commercial Alarm · Williamsville

Five Guys on Transit blows past 25 minutes of multiple activations

Amherst PD took a commercial alarm at 8:27 a.m. for Five Guys at 8248 Transit Road with "multiple activations" — and dispatch noted the alarm company had actually called the original event in 25 minutes earlier, an unflattering response-time disclosure aired live on the dispatch channel.[6]

Fire Alarm · Eastview Plaza

Rachel's at 8250 Transit pings the panel

At 2:12 p.m. Amherst Fire dispatch went out to a fire alarm activation at Rachel's, 8250 Transit Road in the Eastview Plaza, on a detector activation.[7] No working fire reported on the air.

Fire Alarm · Snyder

People Inc. group facility, 5400 Sheridan, fire alarm activation

People Incorporated at 5400 Sheridan Drive drew a fire-alarm response at 10:17 a.m. — a quiet, no-finding activation on the air, but a Williamsville-adjacent address worth a note.[8]

EMS · Tonawanda corridor

Sheridan Park Village pickup at 9170 Sheridan

Amherst Fire dispatch sent EMS in cold response to 9170 Sheridan Drive — Sheridan Park Village — at 12:21 p.m. for a male requiring assistance; the caller (identified on air as "Dylan") gave the village's full name directly to dispatch.[9]

Larceny · Williamsville

Suspect-on-site theft report at an Elderwood property on Main

At 7:36 a.m. an Amherst PD officer was told to take a larceny call at "Elderwood, 527 [block of] Main Street" where residents were reporting items missing; dispatch added that the suspect was an employee on location and "unaware that we are responding," with officers asked to meet at the front desk.[10]

What the…?!

"Bramblewood for an injured deer" — Amherst PD's most painterly call of the day

At 10:07 a.m., an Amherst PD officer self-dispatched to Bramblewood "for an injured deer" — five words, dispatched and out.[11] No follow-up traffic surfaced in the window, leaving the deer's fate, like the broadcast itself, somewhere between resolved and rural.

Ramp Confidential

"Oh my gosh, bruh. It's gross!" — a United ramp agent files a one-sentence review

Across the airfield at 8:57 a.m., the BNIA United ramp channel produced an unscheduled monologue: "It's dark…. Oh my gosh, bruh. It's gross! What you mean is broke — it's not moving, look, only one side moving."[12] No further context provided. None requested. The People's Court of Ramp Operations had already ruled.

Domestic Suspense

The Great Dryer-Smoking Affair of N56 Parkland

Amherst Fire took a call at 2:03 p.m. about a dryer that "was smoking" at a Parkland address; the homeowner had already turned it off by the time crews rolled, and by 2:29 p.m. dispatch declared it "a probable issue with the dryer vent" with the homeowner now "contacting service, which he's doing right now."[13] A textbook Amherst micro-thriller: appliance malfunction discovered, deactivated, and rendered to its insurer in under thirty minutes.

Hot Mic

Buffalo Limo driver, 11:25 a.m.: "Fuckin' everyone drank more beer than me, I don't know."

The Buffalo Limo channel — populated all morning by drivers narrating their loops in the third person — produced a moment of unmistakable interior monologue at 11:25 a.m., transmitted in full to whoever happened to be listening.[14] Five minutes later, a follow-up complaint: "Moving the fucking excavator, so I'm backing up in the wrong spot." Two genres of grievance, one open mic.

Smoke Through The Trees

"Some great smoke through the trees" — 411 John James, file under: it's June

Amherst Fire dispatch passed along a caller's report at 1:10 p.m. of "some great smoke through the trees" coming from the direction of 411 John James — the kind of call that, in mid-June with the grills firing up, frequently resolves itself before the truck rolls.[15] No follow-up confirmed an actual fire on the air.
